Strategic enterprise scaling & applied fluid dynamics

Co-founder of KiteGeneration Srls, scaling a vertically integrated sport-tourism enterprise in Sardinia while competing internationally in hydrofoil racing, applying high-speed aerodynamics in operational and athletic contexts.

Enterprise Architecture

Pre-incorporation

2008 — 2010

Wind Regime Mapping & Site Feasibility

Initial mapping of the complex meteorology of Southern Sardinia (specifically the interactions of the Maestrale and Scirocco wind vectors) across local coastal hubs to identify optimal instructional nodes.

KiteGeneration Srls

2011 — 2016

Cagliari: Market Entry

Incorporated KiteGeneration Srls. Established a lean, mobile instructional model utilizing high-frequency customer acquisition in the capital city. This phase validated the pedagogical framework and built international brand equity without heavy fixed-asset exposure.

Infrastructure Pivot & Piano Sulcis

Authored the business plan to successfully secure the Piano Sulcis, a competitive regional development grant. This funded the transition to a fixed-infrastructure hub in San Giovanni Suergiu, vertically integrating the business with an on-site hospitality hub.

Operational model & morphology

Vertical integration Lagoon morphology SME Governance

The selection of Punta Trettu was an engineering decision based on lagoon morphology. The shallow bathymetry (waist-deep plateau), reduced chop, and Venturi-amplified wind corridors decrease stochastic instability during early-stage learning, dramatically increasing instructional throughput per session.

By leveraging these parameters, the enterprise operates as an engine for regional economic diversification, creating induced demand for local logistics through a comprehensive "Kite & Sleep" hospitality model.

Technical framework

  • Radio-integrated telemetry for real-time instructional feedback loops
  • Curriculum formally certified under VDWS, IKO, and FIV standards
  • Revenue hedging via diversified services (SUP, logistics, accommodation)
  • Strict safety infrastructure (rescue boat mapping and BLSD readiness)

Competitive hydrofoil validation

2012 IKA World Championships Foil performance testing Applied aerodynamics

Beyond enterprise management, my primary athletic discipline is hydrofoil kitesurfing: a direct, high-speed application of fluid mechanics in a turbulent marine environment.

Participation in the 2012 Kitesurf World Championships (IKA) in Sardinia provided a critical real-world testing ground. Operating at racing speeds on foil sections informs the numerical modelling of lift, drag, and cavitation limits investigated in the research laboratory.

Instructional Expertise

  • Competitor at the international 2012 IKA World Championship circuit
  • 10+ years of high-performance coaching and risk management
  • Translation of fluid racing physics into baseline teaching methodologies

Field validation locations

Field sessions across the Canary Islands and the Mediterranean serve as an experimental testbed for fluid-dynamics mechanics, moving theoretical assumptions out of the wind tunnel and subjecting them to real-world atmospheric variance.

Selected nodes: Sotavento (Fuerteventura), Punta Trettu (San Giovanni Suergiu), and Poetto (Cagliari).
